Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How long did it take you to write The Ravine Forevermore?
A: It took me approximately 3 years. During the research phase, I wanted
to get the feel of the story, so my family and I traveled to Michigan where
I grew up. While on location(s) for the story , the town, factory, and
ravine were basically untouched since the 1970's. The whole experience
helped make the story unique and believable.
Q: Do you plan a sequel for Ravine?
A: I am seriously considering a sequel to Ravine, but I am currently
working on my next novel, a psychological suspense.
Q: The story seems so real, is it?
A: I get asked that quite often (hence an FAQ). If you look in the
copyright page, you will notice my statement of this being a work of fiction.
The fact that the story seems so real is the essence of what all writers
strive for. When I am asked this very question, I usually respond with a
"Thank You."
Q: When will your next book, Being of Sound Mind be available?
A: Being of Sound Mind should be released sometime in March, 2009.
It's at the publisher's as we speak. It is a totally different story and
setting than Ravine. Whereas The Ravine Forevermore is a mystery story,
Being of Sound Mind is classified as suspense.
Q: Who are your favorite authors?
A: If you're asking about contemporary authors, my top three would be:
Peter Robinson, Steve Hamilton, and J. A. Jance. In reality, my list is long,
but again, those are my top three (and not necessarily in that order). If
you're asking about classic authors, my top three would be Edgar Allan Poe,
Agatha Christie, and Nathanial Hawthorne. I plan to have a section in this
website to include the top ten books I've read recently, with perhaps a
comment or two. Keep checking my website for it.
Q: I've read The Ravine Forevermore and an excerpt from your new
book, Being of Sound Mind, (which I'm anxiously awaiting to arrive). Are
there any messages of awareness you want to bring to your readers?
A: Absolutely. In my first book, I wanted to convey the plight of the
migrant factory workers, and the anguish suffered by many Vietnam
veterans. My second book portrays the struggles of a bipolar disorder
patient and her immediate family, coupled with society's biases toward
mental illness. However, in neither book will you find the hero or narrator
preaching about any of these topics. My intention is for readers to:
(1) enjoy the books and (2) learn from them if they choose to.
Q: Are you working on any other novels right now?
A: Yes. I'm working on a thriller at the moment, but it's too early to give
out any details. More will follow once this project is at the publisher's.
