Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I heard you are now writing for young adults. Is that true?
A: Yes. It is very true. I still like writing mysteries for adults, but I am
planning a series of YA stories focusing on adventures taking place in
northern states. My first YA novel is a remake of
The Ravine
Forevermore
, but details are sketchy on the actual title. Do keep checking
for it.

Q: How long did it take you to write The Ravine Forevermore?
A: It took me approximately 3 years.  During the research phase, I wanted
to get the feel of the story, so my family and I traveled to Michigan where
I grew up.  While on location(s)  for the story , the town, factory, and
ravine  were basically untouched since the 1970's. The whole experience
helped make the story unique and believable (so I was told).

Q: The story seems so real, is it?
A:  I get asked that quite often (hence an FAQ).  If you look in the
copyright page, you will notice my statement of this being a work of fiction.
The fact that the story seems so real is the essence of what all writers
strive for.  When I am asked this very question, I usually respond with a
"Thank You."

Q:  Who are your favorite authors?
A:  If you're asking about contemporary authors, my top three would be:
Peter Robinson, Steve Hamilton, and the late great Richard Laymon.  In
reality, my list is long, but again, those are my top three (and not
necessarily in that order).  If you're asking about classic authors, my top
three would be Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, and Sir Arthur Conan
Doyle.

Q:  I've read The Ravine Forevermore and an excerpt from your new
book,
Being of Sound Mind.  Are there any messages of awareness you
want to bring to your readers?
A:  Absolutely.  In my first book, I wanted to convey the plight of the
migrant factory workers, and the anguish suffered by many Vietnam
veterans.  My second book portrays the struggles of a bipolar disorder
patient and her immediate family, coupled with society's biases toward
mental illness.  However, in neither book will you find the hero or narrator
preaching about any of these topics.  My intention is for readers to:
(1) enjoy the books and (2) learn from them if they choose to.
